Project:
Edinburgh (Vincent Bell Hairdressing)
Outline Brief: |
Having regard to the (sometimes conflicting) operational objectives of the client, and the design and policy requirements of City of Edinburgh Council and Historic Scotland, and the views of local residential and business occupiers, secure planning permission and Listed Building Consent for the extension of the hair salon business inside this Grade A Listed Building in the historic New Town Conservation Area of Edinburgh.
BLUE P & D Solution: |
Initial policy advice following client referral from City of Edinburgh Council, who had advised informally that proposed extension of hairdressing salon from ground floor to first floor of Grade A Listed Building in Conservation Area unlikely to be acceptable. Submission of Design Statement (in accordance with Scottish Executive Planning Advice Note 68 – Design Statements) explaining design proposals and outcome of local consultation exercise; Negotiation of planning consent for Change of Use from residential to non-food retail use; Assembly of design team including Architect, Quantity Surveyor and Structural Engineer, and submission of Listed Building application for internal works. Liaison and consultation with Planning Department and Historic Scotland. Consent awaited.
